Hi Oppo, its been awhile. Hope all is well. I've been offline for a bit, took delivery of a baby Opponaut in March. But in my off-season, we swapped our our Lexus IS250 for a new Fusion.
I've posted about the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! before, it was a very nice car, but not very sporting, or fast, or all that interesting. So enter the 2014 Fusion SE. We had to save some money so it's half the monthly payment and luckily twice the car. 2.0L EcoBoost, 30'ish MPG, and has all the fun touch-screen goodness inside as well as lots of sensors for parking, changing lanes, etc.

You may recognize the Mustang in the background as the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . It's still plugging along, only has 56K miles, not bad for a 2003.

Initial impressions are very positive, the torque is significant, 270 ft.lbs I believe. Handles well, rides well, and has a LOT more room in the backseat than the Lexus did. All-in-all a great swap, and saves us a great deal of monies. Even better.

Has the same engine as the Focus ST, correct?
Should make for a very fun car.

I call BS on your 2013 mustang!
I like the new fusions a lot, I test drove an ecoboost platinum at a ford test drive event and thought it was a really nice car. One of my friends moms bought a 3cyl ecoboost fusion (boo) and her moonroof leaked so bad that her carpet was soaked with mold. It was at the dealership like 3 times for this problem and they had to call in a "ford moonroof specialist". They always have bad luck with anything they buy so I don't use them as a bench mark of vehicle quality lol.

Yep! Same torque (270) hp is down to 240 vs. 250 (on premium, 231 on regular).

I know what what you speak of. ;) haha
That doesn't sound good. Although I don't have a moonroof, so cool. I drove the 1.5L EcoBoost as well, the 2.0 was very much worth it.

We have a Fusion Energi. I love the new Fusion; it's one of the best cars you can buy right now.

I did almost exactly the same thing. Got rid of a Challenger SRT8, got the fusion and split the payments almost in half. Mine is only the 1.6L ecoboost but I damn near tripled the gas mileage. I haven't looked back since. The Fusion is truly an amazing car and super nimble compared the Challenger. I think the fusion could out handle the Challenger without breaking a sweat.

yeah buying a 3cyl mid size car is stupid. His dad has the 2.0 escape and that scoots pretty good.

Great looking car, man! I love what they did with the Fusion, as it was a bit of a snooze fest before.
I'd be curious to see what kind of mileage you get real world. In my Focus ST with the same engine I've been averaging around 25 mpg, but then again I can't take a freeway on-ramp without flooring it, so my numbers might be a little skewed. Plus, I've only had it since Friday. Still, that's actually better than I thought I'd be getting, given how poor of mileage some people around Oppo have been getting in theirs.
Congrats!

Thanks! I test drove a Focus ST as well, stay tuned. ;)
I'll keep an eye on the gas mileage, I was impressed that the 1.5L only got a few MPG better on average, it was worth it for the extra oomph.

Good stuff! I'm pretty psyched about the black factory wheels, looks pretty evil. Glad you are liking yours so far.

like everything about it except I'm having wheel troubles. it seems the clear on the black wheels are peeling(I have 6800 miles). from what I see on the forums this is a somewhat common issue. I will have to take it in for warranty.

I just searched "Fusion" on Oppo and may have found one of your threads. Good to know, I'll have to keep an eye out for that!

Definitely worth the extra coin for that engine. That torque is addicting.

The new Fusion is a terrific car. I've spent a good amount of time in a loaner Titanium with the 2.0 EcoBoost for a while and am really impressed with it. Comfortable, quick, great ride and handling, feels like the steering wheel is actually attached to something, just generally a good ride. Congratulations on your purchase, hope you really enjoy it!

Thanks! Just survived a rainy DC commute in it. I felt like every other driver was edging into my lane, I think I aged a few years in that hour.

And it's probably also under-rated. My bone stock 14 FoST with 1010 miles on it and Sunoco premium in the tank put down 242whp/280wtq SAE on the nearest Dynojet...
